The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is closing the F train for eight weekends to help modernize and improve the transit system.
Starting July 1, the Coney Island-bound F train will operate express between Church Avenue and Kings Highway through July 13. Then between Aug. 5 and Aug. 17, the Manhattan-bound F train will operate express between Kings Highway and Church Avenue.
The closure comes as the MTA is replacing signals between Church Avenue and Coney Island.
As for the eight weekends in which service is suspended, the closures are taking place the weekends of July 5 and July 12. In August, the closures will pick back up on Aug. 9 and take place each weekend through Sep. 16.
The MTA committees will be meeting at 9 a.m. Monday and the board will be meeting Wednesday for the first time since congestion pricing was put on pause. People can comment publicly at both meetings here.
